Applications & Uses

Expanded PVC foam board is the standard substrate for indoor sign fabrication, retail displays, trade show exhibits and dimensional letters. Its closed-cell structure makes it much lighter than aluminum or acrylic while keeping the rigidity flat sign panels and mounted graphics need. The matte white surface accepts Oracal 651 vinyl by ORAFOL, screen printing and most solvent, eco-solvent and UV digital inks without priming.

Which Thickness?

3mm is the standard for flat sign panels and mounting boards. 6mm works for dimensional elements and thicker panels. Go to 12mm or 25mm for structural components, thick dimensional letters and display pieces that need real depth.

PVC foam board cuts cleanly on CNC routers, which makes it a common pick for routed letters, shaped panels and precision-cut display components. It resists moisture and won't delaminate in humid rooms, and it stands up to most cleaning agents, so it works well in interiors that get wiped down regularly.

Where PVC Sign Board Fits in the Substrate Lineup

PVC foam board is the right choice for indoor sign fabrication where aluminum's weight or cost isn't justified and corrugated plastic is too flexible. For long-term outdoor signs, aluminum sign blanks or ACM panels are the better specification. For illuminated faces, use acrylic sheets. For low-cost thin indoor panels and POP, styrene is the lighter-duty option.
