Sign-Grade Polycarbonate 

 Built for Impact and Outdoor Use Polycarbonate is the high-impact rigid substrate: roughly 30x stronger than acrylic and far more break-resistant, which makes it the choice for vandal-prone, high-traffic, and security signage. Our sheets are sign-grade and UV-stabilized so they hold up to sun without yellowing as fast as standard polycarbonate. It accepts adhesive vinyl, screen print, and digital print, and cold-forms without cracking. Commonly specified as a Lexan or Makrolon alternative.

Polycarbonate vs. Acrylic vs. ACM — Which Rigid Substrate? 

Choose polycarbonate when impact resistance matters most — it bends and takes abuse without shattering. Choose acrylic for a harder, glossier, more rigid face when impact isn't the concern. Material Properties

Continuous use temperature rated to 265°F. Lightweight with high dielectric strength and superior UV resistance for outdoor applications. Low moisture absorption and high light transmission — ideal for custom sign shapes and sizes requiring impact resistance where acrylic would crack or shatter.

The preferred substrate for illuminated sign faces, backlit cabinet signs and day/night sign applications. Sign-grade polycarbonate transmits light evenly for consistent backlit results — ideal for channel letter faces, lightbox inserts and outdoor directional signs. Suitable for high-traffic environments where impact resistance is critical.

Is polycarbonate the same as Lexan? 

Lexan and Makrolon are brand names for polycarbonate. Our sign-grade polycarbonate is an equivalent material.

Polycarbonate or acrylic for outdoor signs? 

Polycarbonate for impact and security applications; acrylic for a harder, glossier face where breakage isn't a risk. Both work outdoors; UV-stabilized polycarbonate resists yellowing. 

Can you print on polycarbonate sheets? 

Yes — adhesive vinyl, screen printing, and direct UV/digital printing all work on sign-grade polycarbonate.
